What started my spring cleaning...and what stopped it!

I mentioned last week that I was on a spring cleaning frenzy at my house. The project that started it all was the small antique spool cabinet that belonged to my in-laws. You have seen several pictures of the larger spool cabinet that I brought home from their house, but this small one had been waiting for me to find a place for it. I decided to line it with a neutral paper and use it as a jewelry box. Of course it didn't hold nearly as much as I thought it would. I opted to only put casual bracelets in one drawer and necklaces in the other. It forced me to clean out all of my jewelry...and eventually the dressers and closet.

I was doing great until last Wednesday. The picture below is what the trees in our yard looked like last Tuesday. They were still brown, there were a few buds just starting to show. We slept with our bedroom window open Tuesday night. Wednesday morning I woke up with an allergy migraine because...

...this is what happened to all of our Bradford Pear trees,
literally in just a few hours.

Our yard is full of these trees, as is the rest of our town. I have never seen anything like this. The trees went from winter to spring in less than 24 hours. I guess when it is over 80 degrees in March, anything can happen. They are gorgeous but everyone I know is complaining of allergies. Mine just happen to take the form of headaches. Needless to say, the air-conditioner came on and the cleaning stopped! So did the blogging. I need to do some catching up this week!

I am joining Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday

Love the thread cabinet, they are so hard to find and so beautiful. Great idea as a jewelry box. The trees look amazing. So sorry you have a headache, that is really bad. Hopefully things will be better soon. Hugs, Marty

Those trees are gorgeous, Sue, but too bad they cause such discomfort .....at first I thought it was the puppy that caused some mischief and you had to stop :) This weather is more than just a little unusual, but I am enjoying it. xo

Our tree looked like that, now with wind and rain it is bare of the flowers...sad they don't last a little longer.

I love your spool cabinet turned jewelry chest, but I'm sorry your allergies are giving you problems! I've been sneezing like crazy since everything is blooming here too.

Feel better!

Oh, I feel for you! I can't ever sleep with windows open...allergies would kill me. I've had so many migraines lately and I'm even on allergy shots.

The Bradford pears did that here a couple weeks or so ago. They are just beautiful but a hazard too. I so hope you're feeling better!

OH MY! Spectacular! We went from spring to 6 inches of snow on the ground. Good thing nothing is in bloom yet or it would have frozen everything. The tree is just gorgeous, but yes, I am an allergy sufferer too, so I know your pain!

I hope you are feeling better! It's too nice to be in the house. The tree is lovely and I noticed the lawn has been mowed. Dave is considering mowing our lawn but it's unheard of in March. (not that that would stop him) Our trees are showing signs of spring too. I'm sure glad I didn't stay in Florida and miss all of this.

Love that little spool cabinet.

Those Bradford Pear trees always makes my husbands allergies flare up, too.

They just smell so icky...
