Let's Talk About Blogger and Pinterest Questions and Issues

I have a few questions/problems that I haven't been able to answer with Google. When it doubt...ask other bloggers if they can help. If you have a question or problem, feel free to post it in the comments and maybe someone can help you.

1. I am no longer able to copy and paste HTML codes into my blog design. I can copy from another site, but when I open the Add Gadget-HTML in blogger, when I try to paste the code, it won't paste. It doesn't matter if I'm trying to change my background or trying to add a "follow me on Pinterest" link, it doesn't work. What's up with that??

2. I keep seeing discussion about changes coming to way we have or get followers in the near future. I can't find a good explanation of what is actually happening. Are we going to still be able to click the follow button on a blog to follow it? Will we still have the followers we have now? Do we have to link our blogs to our Facebook accounts? If so, why? I don't want to lose the list of blogs that I follow...so, I'm trying to decide if we need to make a written list of the blog websites we follow.

3. Is there a way to find out how many times our most read posts have been read since we posted them. I have a counter that tells me daily, weekly etc. view numbers...but, I'm curious as to how many views a couple posts have gotten over time and I don't know where to look for the info.

4. I am new to Pinterest. Many of my fellow bloggers have been using it for a while. I evidently joined through Facebook and when I go to my Pinterest settings and try to upload a different picture than my Facebook image...I am unable to do so. The only way I can change my Pinterest photo seems to be by changing my photo on Facebook...that seems very strange to me. I would prefer to have my blog photo on Pinterest and my personal photo on Facebook...help?

5. If we want to give someone a link to our Pinterest page so they can follow us...is that link simply http://www.pinterest.com/whatever our user name is/

6. I like being able to support other bloggers by "pinning" things I love from their blogs to Pinterest. I would think this would bring more traffic to their blogs or our own blogs. I have yet to figure out how to get people to follow me on Pinterest or if it is even important to have followers there...thoughts?

Sue, as you know, I am no techie but, to add the Pinterest link I just emailed info@pinterest.com and they sent me a link and I chose which one I wanted by copy and paste. Followers are fun on Pinterest, but I have not noticed any traffic coming to my blog from there. I also don't really link things up from the blog. I had the same problem when I tried following a blog on Networked Blogs which went through FB. I could not change the photo or my name as I wanted it to appear. As far as changing background, I wanted to add some 'snowflakes' but it wouldn't take. xo

#2 - I think I read where if your blog is thru "blogger" the follower setup will remain the same. Let me see if I can find where I read that - will be back. :D

Hi Sue...
Question #2: If you go to "Design" at the top of your blog, then click on "Stats" you will find exactly what you are looking for. In graph form and individual blog posts.

I don't know the answer to your other questions..

Thanks for the visit today... do try that French Country Omelet it is wonderful and easy!

Take care there

Meant to add - It is the 2nd item down. Sorry - I nothing about facebook or pinterest. I need to stay away from them, as I already spend way to much time on the computer as it is. :D

haahhhaaa.....YOU are asking MOI about all this tech stuff ?? I barely can turn on my computer.
I do know you can get the stats on your DESIGN page....

Uh.. I just googled how to link to Pintrest and got the site and emblem to use. (I google every single thing)
I have no idea what Pintrest is really all about. I just pen photos I like so I can find them easily. As for followers, I don't know if they help us or not.

...the BEST help I ever have had is thru
BONNIE....at http://howcanidothat.blogspot.com/
She has never failed to help me on every problem I've ever had.

I don't know what is going on that so many bloggers are having a hard time. I've not encountered any problems as yet (knocking on wood) so I can't help on anything else. Sorry.....:(

Hi Sue,

On #3..To see your overall stats from the beginning of your blog go to dashboard..stats...by the word Overview go to the button that says All Time and the top post will be the most hit post with the number of views.

#6. Is it important to have followers on PInterest? Yes.
Somebody had the best post about this at the end of the year. I can't remember where I read that.
She mentions something really took with PInterest in Sept. and that is when I noticed it too. I have a single recipe with Carmel Apple cake that went all over Pinterest and got me tons of followers on Pinterest and my blog. It can really be a great tool to grow your blog.

On HTML I try not to mess with it as much as possible! LOL
Hope this helps!

Here is the link you can go to and copy the code to put pinterest on your blog: http://pinterest.com/about/goodies/

You have to scroll down and then you just copy the html.

I don't know why you would be having problems getting that to load on your layout.....

As far as the copying the html stuff--are you sure you hit the save button? or save changes--something like that?

Sue,
What great questions!
Unfortunatly I don't know the answers. My SIL just sent me an invite to Pinterest and I have been struggling with it for days!
To find out the anser to #3 go to STATS and click on something like most read posts!
I'll be reading back thru your comments to see if anyone else has answers!

Pinterest does help with folks looking at your blog. I recently looked at my stats and where people were linking from and Pinterest was the number one referring site to my blog. I didn't even know someone had pinned a photo from my blog about my boring to better doorknobs. Has increased my traffic. Yes, you have to have facebook or twitter, which I didn't have either, so I "my daughter" started a twitter account for me. I haven't tweeted once, but used it as my way into Pinterest.

I am not sure that pinterest has brought me any increased traffic, but I can tell you, I can sure as heck spend a bunch of time on there. I love how I can see something I like and "Pin it". I used to put it in my favorites and never remember where anything was. I do try to put the name of the blog or who has created it in the description.
