The Kitchen Backsplash

Once again as I put this post together, there is devastation from deadly tornadoes. I watched on Facebook last night as a friend who has a mother and other family members in Joplin, MO was posting as she waited for news. Her mother is fine, her house isn't. Most of her other family members have been found, they are still waiting on news of a few others. I saw another friend offer to drive the 2 hour trip to help our friend's family, take supplies, take in pets or offer housing. Tragedy may be the worst, but it brings out the best in people. I pray that all of our blog friends who live in that area have survived and that we have seen the last of these "power storms" that have been hitting this spring.

My post today is the last part of our kitchen redo. My dad is here visiting and he spent several days last week putting in our tile backsplash. We opted to keep the colors neutral because we know we will sell this house in a few years. We did want to add a little touch of something special, so we added a tumbled stone mosaic which is extra work but I really am happy with the look.

Please remember to sign up for my
 Boos Cutting Board Giveaway.
You still have a few days left.

You may remember the beginning of our project...

This is how it looks now!

We will still need to seal the grout in a few weeks.
We keep finding spots that still need a little "scrubbing".
We also have to get the baseboard on
the bar area and then we are done!

I am joining Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday. Make sure you stop to see her and all of this week's projects.

Hi Sue! Your kitchen looks fantastic!

The kitchen is on my list of projects this year. I need to do something with my backsplash, but am afraid I will get in over my head. Any tips you could extend would be greatly appreciated.

Have a great week! La

Oh Suz, your project turned out beautifully!

The latest tornado news is devastating. So many have suffered such great loss this year in weather-related events. Kudos to those who have stepped up to the plate with supplies, shelter and heart.

I always thought the little strips of something added a lot to the look. We are doing the same thing right now, remodeling, but not wanting to put too much money into it since we know we will be moving out in a couple years.

If you have a chance, I would love to pick your brain about Disney. The girls and I are planning a road trip to Florida and I am hoping to throw in a day or two at WDW, but I have to figure out finances first. We have to do it between my dad's surgeries because I don't want to be gone and honestly, all the time off work and unexpected expenses have obliterated my savings. Everything would have to be budget friendly, but I think I can do it.

I feel so sad about the folks in Joplin. Will this crazy weather ever end?

That's exactly what I want to put in my kitchen. Was it hard to do? I don't know if we should try it or just hire someone to do it...

Your kitchen is looking great! That backsplash is gorgeous. We do love to tweak on our kitchens, don't we. I'm so glad we are almost finished and I'm already enjoying the new look and working on getting everything organized.

Why would you want to sell "in a few years" such a lovely house with this great kitchen?
Anyway, until then, enjoy it!

Yes, I am so saddened by all the lives this terrible weather has claimed..and changed the others. My prayers to all of them.

Your backsplash is just beautiful...your entire kitchen is magazine worthy. Enjoy.
