Update

I want to thank each and every one of you for all the prayers, messages and kind words the past few days. Words can't express how much I appreciate it and so does my mom. I know I'm missing some wonderful posts and that I'll never catch up. I just wanted to let you know that my mom is doing well, although she would like it all to move a little faster. She wants to go home! She has progressed to sitting in a chair for a couple of hours the past two days and as of lunch today, she can eat whatever she wants. Why is it that they give someone who hasn't eaten in days Swedish Meatballs, noodles, green beans and lemon pie for their first solid food? Needless to say, my dad ate it and we got mom a strawberry smoothie. She will more than likely move from ICU to a regular room tomorrow. She's still pretty swollen and weak, so the main thing now is to get her strong enough to get back to walking so she can go home. They started her doing some exercises today that will help with that.

My sister and her husband got here on Wednesday and we've been taking turns spending the night at the hospital. Dad has actually been convinced to go home and sleep as long as one of us is sitting with mom. She has difficult days ahead of her, but she is determined. The doctors are simply amazed at what a fighter she is and what she survived. I'm really tired, but that's okay...it is worth it. I will be back blogging as soon as I can stay awake or get my brain to work. Thanks for sticking with me until then.

Sue, I'm sorry that I missed your last few posts about your mother's horrible ordeal! I'm glad she is feeling stronger and getting better and I will certainly keep her in my thoughts and prayers. Having gone down a similar path with my own mother, please be sure to take care of yourself too so that you don't end up getting ill yourself.

Such great news! I hope your mom makes a remarkable recovery (despite the hospital food)! Glad that you have family so that you can all take care of each other too -- we're here cheering you on!

When I hadn't seen your daily comments...I kept saying that I need to check in with you to see if you were alright! I'm so sorry that I missed your initial posts regarding your mom's medical condition. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family. I am sitting here in tears because I adore the post you wrote about not waiting. God bless you Sue. You have become my friend and I'm praying for your mother's full recovery.

Hi Sue, So glad to hear they 'think' your mom can eat Swedish meatballs! God bless her and be with her ♥
It sounds like your family is mighty busy ~ treat yourself to a "nap on the porch" and some comfort food.

God bless you and strengthen you and your family,
Maria

Sue...I haven't been around for a few days and I didn't know. I am so glad that you and your sister are there. Your mom sounds a lot like mine...just a little on the inpatient side. My mom wanted to go home the morning after her open heart surgery. I am so glad that the surgery worked. Your family will be in my prayers.

Just popped in to see how things were going & I'm delighted to read your Mom seems to be on the mend. Whew!
Take good care of yourself, okay? The caregivers often have it much more difficult than the patient. Ask me how I know! :/

I'm making your chicken casserole for supper today. We'll add your family to our dinner table prayers tonight.
