Sunshine & Polka Dots

I think most of you have figured out by now that I use lots of sea glass aqua and white as accent colors in my house. I rarely use yellow, even though I like it. One of the bouquets that we received when my mother-in-law died had a wonderful yellow and orange polka dot bow in a pot of orange tulips with butterflies. I just loved the ribbon and I decided that I didn't care if it matched the rest of my things...it made me happy!

I took apart the bow and ironed it.
I also saved the butterflies.

Yellow, orange and white...with aqua?
Does it match...not really.
Do I care? Not at all!

If Marty has a cloche party,
you will have to see these again soon!

A little beach...a little sunny yellow to make up for the lack of sunshine this spring.

I changed the wreath above our basement stairs from white and shades of pink to  white and orange gerbera daisies. I had a piece of artwork on this staircase for several years. I prefer that to a wreath, but we found that every time we shut the door in from the garage...it shifted the art and made it crooked. We've tried various options and the only thing that works is something that doesn't have to hang perfectly straight. So, a wreath that we change for the seasons was the answer.

Once again I'm trying to remind you that if you like something, use it. Everything doesn't have to match perfectly to work when you are decorating. As long as things flow and you tie in the colors in various places, use what you love!

Hi Sue! Oh, I love that sweet polka dot ribbon and how sweet you saved it. I think no rules apply - if you like it that's what matters!
Thanks for popping in to see me.

It looks adorable! And, I think the ribbon is quite complimentary to the aqua...nice pops of color.

Hi Sue,
I love the cloches! Since I'm a beach gal, I like your sea shells and glass too. Aqua is a favourite colour of mine!
Love the metal basket you got as a gift which you featured in your previous post! Looks wonderful with those flowers! Have a lovely day and thanks for your visit.

First I have to say, "that is the cutest post name I've seen today." Sunshine and polka dots, it just made me SMILE! Then I got here and there were butterflies — I smiled even more.

I love the advice I heard years ago from someone, I don't remember who, but they said something like, "surround yourself with things you love and you will love your surroundings."
