A little paint and $3.60

It is well established that I am not a "crafty" person. I know my strengths and I also know my weaknesses and so do my fellow bloggers! So, when I do a craft project and it turns out the way I want it to...it generally means that a first grader could do it! I found this Fleur-de-lis in the 90% off section at Hobby Lobby. It had been $36 and I paid $3.60 for it. I thought that I could throw it away if I failed. I had some Annie Sloan chalk paint that I hadn't tried yet and it seemed like a good first project. I didn't do anything except wipe the store dust off the piece before starting. I painted 2 coats of paint, let it dry and sanded a few spots to age it. I also used the clear Annie Sloan wax when it was done...I have no idea why or what it was supposed to do...but, I had it, so I used it. I was really pleased with the results! What do you think?

Do you realize that Easter is March 31st? We actually change the clocks to Daylight Savings Time next weekend. So, I spent yesterday putting away all the snow-covered, pinecone type decorations and brought out spring. Of course we have snow coming and it is cold, cold, cold here...but, it looks like spring inside the house!

Wow - Like your new blog look - What a pretty wreath!
Great job on the fleur-de-lis, and I like the vignette you created with it also. I think I must be one of the few in the land of blog that has not used the AS paint yet.
Enjoy your evening.

Sue, first I love your new header and background. Blog looks so fresh and ready for spring. Love the wreath in the header. And you made that fleur-de-lis beautiful! I would have not noticed it at all in the original color. xo

You sound so much like me...all thumbs! I haven't posted too many DIY projects in my 4+ years of blogging. Your did a great job on this. I've never used the ASCP. It's expensive and what a waste if I messed up! lol! I love your new blog look. I am getting the house ready for spring, too, once some rooms are painted. Get ready for the storm, I read the worst is supposed to be in my area of Chicago!

XO,
Jane

Wow did you ever get a steal on that piece! I can't believe it. Looks great too. I think I remember when the time change used to be in April--I live now in a state of confusion on time change.

Hi Suz,
I am impressed your fleur de lis
turned out beautiful. Looks so much better done over in white, and helped make your easter vignette perfect.

I need to get my stuff out and get started too, but have just been too
pooped to do it this week, maybe next week, we'll see!

Glad the grampy brought back fond memories for you. My daughter started that when she got her lil
Chijuajua Rosie, she would say to Rosie when they were coming over or if we were going there wanta see Grammy and Grampy and the dog would go crazy, so it just kind of stuck and we love it.

Think tomorrow we are gonna have to take a run over to see the baby cause I haven't seen her since Wed.
night.........lol Hubby wants to see her too...........lol

You have a great weekend,
Love and Blessings, Nellie
