It is currently sitting in our dining area, waiting to go live at one of my friend's homes. Lucky for both of us, we had something to get rid of and it was something she needed. I liked our cabinet and it was perfect for what we needed it for. However, at the time we bought the new television, we couldn't budget an entertainment center that we really wanted. Please excuse the lighting...it is dark, gray and raining here today.
This is our new one! It is larger than the old one, a little longer and quite a bit taller. It also has glass on the cabinets, which I am not used to. If I behaved like most bloggers, I would only have "pretties" sitting behind those glass doors. We live in our house, so I have CDs on one side and DVDs on the other. They are not nearly as pretty as white pitchers and pieces of coral would be, but it just makes sense for us. The fireplace is very realistic looking. It puts out a nice amount of heat (or you can turn the heat off) and it has a tiny remote. I thought I'd miss the "real" fire, but actually, this is so easy and no worries about putting it out before going to bed.
It is still an entertainment center and that big television is still a bit of an eyesore, but we certainly couldn't live without it, the TIVO or stereo at our house. It also will be perfect when we finally get to move south in a few years. I'm not sure that between the warm puppy in my lap and a warm fire, I may ever get anything done around here!
I'm joining Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday.
Please stop by to say hello to her!

I miss my wood burning fireplace in my previous home, too. Didn't worry about power outages in the winter. We had a fake one that looked quite real and fooled a lot of people in my childhood home. This looks lovely and warm and cozy. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Sue. xo
I like it - very much! I looked at one of those a while back, but it was to big for the space where it would have to go. My space is definitely lived in also. Dark, grey and raining here also.
Very cozy and pretty Sue-enjoy! Happy Thanksgiving Week:@)

I love the new "fire place"! How warm and inviting. Our last house had a gas fireplace and Caribou loved it! I'm wondering what the puppy thinks of it? Don't worry about the DVD's and CD's I'm a firm believer that houses should be lived in! (*and your's is always beautiful) It's dark and rainy here too :( my suggestion is to go and buy yourself a fun pain of wellies (rain boots)Mine always seems to brighten my wet days!
Take care.... Dee Dee
This is fantastic! Beautiful home you got.
Thanks for sharing.
Hope to see you on my blog:)
It looks beautiful, Sue! I agree with you that having a warm fire to sit by pretty much means nothing gets done! lol!
SO you had no sun today? We did. I guess our weather isn't always the same. I just can't get over that it gets dark out at 4:00. I went to the store and it felt like 8:00!!
Have a great week and have fun getting ready for the big day!
XO,
Jane
We have a fake fire insert that fits in our fireplace because our fireplace is a prefab and not really meant to burn really hot fire wood. It is supposed to be for gas logs, but we don't have gas. The fake fire in ours looks so real and it does put out a ton of heat. You will enjoy that and look how pretty it is to look at.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Great compromise!
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
That is very neat. We have gas logs, but have not used it much in the five years due to our little ones. Afraid they would touch the glass, and it gets HOT.
O, I think it looks beautiful, Sue. You get the effect you are after and that is what counts.
I have a wood burning Franklin fireplace that, if I had to choose between it and Mr. Sweet...well...I sure do love my fireplace. :))
Just kidding....I have the sweetest story that will become a blog post soon, about my stove. Or...have I done it already? O, getting old and forgetful is awful, Suz...now I have to go back in archives and see if it's been done. :))
Love your new fire...
