I've had this table planned in my head for a while. I wasn't sure if it would all pull together, but I think it did. I don't often mix/match my china, but I liked the idea of using these three different patterns to kick off the new year. I think that we should always look to the future, but never forget the past.
I started this tablescape with a large
cream tablecloth edged in white poinsettias.
Cream napkins were made into festive "bow ties" by simply adding a small piece of ribbon.
The first china pattern belonged to my maternal grandmother.
It is Meito China, Made in Japan.
Next, we have my mother's china. It is Carlton by Castleton.
Last, is my china. Moonspun by Lenox.
The flatware is my grandmother's sterling silver and the
stemware is Fostoria Buttercup, a pattern shared by
all three of us.
I wanted an elegant look for this table. I've had a very tall crystal vase for several months. I bought it at a "tag sale" of an interior decorator in Florida. I centered it on the table and filled it with white, silver and gold ornaments.
The vase is surrounded by a white feather wreath, tipped with silver. I added tiny white lights and some frosted twigs to go with the winter elegance theme. The crystal candlesticks were a wedding gift of my parents. I've had them for many years. A few glittered stars from Pottery Barn are the only added decoration for the table.
This table was really beautiful after dark.
