Summer 2011
About a week ago, I packed away my "summer" bedding and decided it was time to add some fall back to the bedroom. I pulled out the chocolate brown bedding set that I bought last year at Macys. Last year, I loved it. This year, every morning when I made my bed last week, it just felt wrong to me. It pulled me down.
Fall/Winter 2010-2011
On Saturday, my husband came in the room while I was making the bed. I told him that the bedspread was depressing to me this year. Expecting him to roll his eyes and look at me like I was crazy, I was very surprised when he said, "me too". My husband had an opinion about a bedspread, this doesn't happen. Maybe the fact that we've had some months of "darkness" around our house, or maybe the beautiful quilts we got from his mother that don't fit any beds in our house are part of the feeling. Whatever it was, I told him that I really felt more in the mood for a light colored, cozy quilt on our bed. Less than an hour later, we happened to stop at Cracker Barrel for their front porch sale (I didn't buy anything). I went in to look at the Halloween decorations and saw a display of beautiful quilts. I didn't even know that Cracker Barrel sold quilts! Needless to say, my bed now has a different look that makes us both feel good when we walk in the room.
Today!
I am joining Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday.
Please stop in and say hello to our hostess.

Sue, this is a beautiful quilt, I love the shop in Cracker Barrel, I never really eat there, but I love to shop there. Just by comparing the photos, the room is so much lighter. xo,
Your new bedding is beautiful and fills your room with light. Gorgeous! Ahem, your old bedding, however, is perfect for my master bedroom. Macy's you say?
Morning Sue,
Love your new quilt, it looks lovely. Cracker Barrel has some really wonderful quilts here,
and usually their prices are quite reasonable.
Interesting that your hubby agreed with you, cause the other one is pretty too, but it probably does have something to do with all you have been thru lately, so good for you!!
It is too hot yet to change my bedding my my cause I will go from sort of a light quilt like topper to a heavier comforter. I love the coziness of it tho, once it gets cold enough, and the lovely change it brings to the room!
Blessings hon,
Nellie
Your new background is so cute!!
I really love the quilt, Sue. It's perfect for fall and maybe a darker throw will bring you into winter. I change my comforter, quilts and duvets often. Lately I have been aggravated by my duvet covers. As pretty as they are, they bunch up and it is a pain to make the bed. I love white but the dogs get up there! I hope I find something soon!
XO,
Jane
That's a beautiful quilt Sue! Funny, I intended to change out my bedding today too, but the water dept had different plans! I'll have to wait until tomorrow to do some wash:@)
Such a simple transformation with great effect.
Very Pretty!! I noticed they had some quilts the last time I was there, but did not really look at them - probably should have.
I like the new look a lot! I see what you mean about the dark color...but maybe you could brighten it up with a folded quilt at the foot and some lighter pillows too...I generally keep the same coverlet on my bed year round because I love it so much...I just change the other things on the bed. Have a great day!!
I like all of your bedding. It is amazing the difference your bedding makes in your bedroom, isn't it!?!?!? I love all three.
Sue,
This is beautiful!
I', so glad that you listen to your inner voice and made the change. I pray that each time you enter your bedroom.... you smile- you deserve some happiness!

I love changing out my bedding. My husband only has an opinion on his comfort--looks don't matter--so I'm left to my own devices on bedding...as long as I don't spend money.
anyway, love the quilt! and I adore quilts in general because they're easier to deal with than duvets.
Looks beautiful! You know, since my last move I have had such a difficult time with my bedroom. I did buy a comforter and curtains in the spring but do not care for them. I want to go back to my "normal" in that room. :-) Getting rid of my king size furniture just seemed to put me in a place of unrest about the bedding, etc. Perhaps I'm finally getting my groove back!

Beautiful bed... love the new quilt!
I love it...it looks beautiful in your room.
The darker color would bother me, too. I am so into WHITES, that's all I want to think about.:)
You're so right about changing the bedding with the seasons, Sue! I just changed mine, too. Of course, I did go with the chocolate brown and light purple combination, but I'm loving it :) Lovely quilt!
