Steam Heat!

It is Outdoor Wednesday at A Southern Daydreamer. I thought I would brave the heat and take a photo tour of my yard. Well, it didn't happen quite as planned. I took the camera outside before 7:30 in order the "beat the heat" but it is pointless. You can't beat the heat this summer. My glasses steamed up, the camera lense steamed up and the humidity was impossible. So, after a few quick attempts at pictures...I ran for the air-conditioning! The humidity has been wonderful for our hibiscus, of course they like tropical weather.

The basil crop has gone wild. Note the "filtered" lense
look of these photos...just a fogged up lense.

The roses are still blooming, but the heat hasn't been their friend.

I have really been surprised that we haven't found
boiled fish in our fountain. They seem to be
thriving and so are the water plants.

The climbing flowers are taking off. They are usually prettiest in the fall when they completely take over the iron form they are climbing around. You can see the humidity haze out on the field behind our home. This year, there are soybeans growing in the field.

It is a beautiful morning, best observed from inside the air-conditioned house. I hope that some of you are enjoying normal summer weather...you know, the kind where you can actually go swimming, eat on your patio and enjoy walks around the neighborhood. We haven't seen that here in weeks! At least I'm not in Texas!

Please go visit our hostess
Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer and say hello!

It is just way too hot this summer. We have a heat advisory today. They are saying to not be out unless you have to. I am glad I did the yard yesterday. Staying is as told today.

Hi Sue, lovely photos, we have had 19 days of high heat here but I don't think it has been as bad as some states. It is supposed to cool down a bit the next couple of days. I am happy that things are holding up in your beautiful yard. The photo of the sky is awesome! xo,

Wow - I read about the heat and shiver here in the early morning with my fleece on as I sit at the computer. We expect a high of 70 today - not great for the gardens by easy on we humans!

I feel for you...at least it's dry here...except last week when we actually got rain! I think the heat is worse in other states...because as we say...it's a dry heat! Or as my husband says...like an oven!

It has been too hot here in Pa. this summer too. I went to take some pictures of my friends sunroom and the same thing happened, the lens fogged right up! Your flowers are beautiful! XO, Pinky

Think how lovely and moist your skin is going to be!

Wow. I haven't tried taking pictures outside but I'm curious now. We are in monsoon now so the same thing might happen here.

Actually, I think the pictures are pretty.

Stay cool!

Oh wait!

You are already really cool!

I adore your water garden! My hibiscus plants both died off this year - I have no idea why and I have enjoyed them for 9 years now. We have dry heat here and I grew up in humidity and I have to say I like the dry (although we have had rainy season all spring and summer this year!) I could just smell your basil as I saw its picture. Keep enjoying your beautiful garden!

I guess I'm enjoying 'normal' weather here in N.B. Canada and feel sorry for you and others enduring the heat and humidity. It does seem to be good for your flowers though. They look beautiful. Pamela

Sue,
We have had the same high temps here too! Your flowers are so beautiful and seem to be thriving even in the high temps. I have always loved your field in your back yard, it provides for such lovely views, sunsets and backdrops!
