A Tisket A Tasket

One of my Mother's Day gifts from my husband was this metal "basket" to hang on the wall. As you can see it is painted white and has been shabbied a bit so that the metal shows through the paint. He bought it in a little Amish shop in a small town near here. When we did the kitchen redo, I took down the pictures of lattes, mochas and cups that I had on the walls. They just didn't seem to look right with all of the white pieces I had sitting in the kitchen now. We have a short wall between the kitchen and the laundry room door. It isn't my favorite spot in the kitchen because our water cooler sits there and there is simply no way to "pretty up" a water cooler. I also won't give up the cooler as it keeps water at perfect temperature for tea all the time!

I cut a foam ball in half so it would slip inside the curved basket.

Using the foam as an anchor, I added some silk flowers in natural whites and greens. I really wanted it to look imperfect, as if I just picked the flowers in the yard and stuck them in the basket. I was happy with the result.

I'm still not happy with the wall and the cooler. I am a less is more type of person, so I don't want to put lots of things on the wall, although I may add a couple of floral photographs in white frames. I need to live with it this way for a while. We are used to the water cooler, but I know it is a bit of an eyesore.

I love the flowers and white holder! I have one that looks just like that and will have to keep this project in mind for the new house! I does seem like something I can do, inspite it having to do with flowers!
Love the beautiful photo of the flower on your header!

Looks so natural, Sue. You did a great job with the flowers! Don't even worry about the water cooler...you do have to "live" in your house don't you? :-)

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Great job! I have the same "basket". It's been hanging empty for 2 years in my bathroom. It's in need of a fresh coat of paint. Now I'm thinking mine could use some flowers too! Beautiful arrangement!

Maybe I could quilt you a cover for your water cooler??? white and soft greens??? or you could drape it with a pretty table linen??
