Prairie Grass, Sunshine and Indians...Oh My!

It was a beautiful weekend in Illinois and we had our hands full of little boys at our house. We decided that a trip to a nearby nature center would be a good place to let them burn a little energy. As you can see, where I live...it is very flat!

The prairie grasses are wild and beautiful.

The dry weather has really affected the color this fall.
Our trees just aren't as pretty as they usually are.

The water levels are very low.

It is still a beautiful sight on a warm, fall day.

Do you see how dry it is?

But the sky is so blue...

...and there are surprises in the woods.

A real Indian!

A train ride!

There are places to explore and things to see!

I am joining Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday
Please take a few minutes to visit our hostess.

OH, how precious they are! It looks like they are having the time of their lives, Sue. Look how intently they are listening to the Indian with his demonstration. And I love those little barrel cars.

Continue to have fun with those cutie pies and have a Happy Outdoor Wednesday (from me who will be stuck inside a car later today)!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Hi Diana,
Looks like a fun way to spend the weekend to me.
Your grandies sure were smilin!!
Love those purple berries, are they beauty berries? We have something like that similiar to them and that's what their name is, Beauty Berries, but they look a bit different, maybe a different variety, our's usually are in the spring. I have tried drying them, and they turn a deep burgundy brown color, not all that pretty unfortunately!!

Have a fun rest of the week hon,
Blessings, Nellie

Oh, I love this little trip we got to take with you!

Thanks for letting us tag along.

My favorite picture was the Indian and the Grandlittles together.

Thanks for the smile, Miss Sue.

Looks like you had fun! Your Fall pics look like around here. We had that storm last night, but enough rain.
Anything not fabric or paper I leave out on this porch all year round. Unless it's windy.
Now in past post I showed my front porch, well fabric and paper and all are pretty protected under the roof.Christmastime even the tree is outside:)

It looks like the boys had a fun time. Judging by your photos, Illinois is quite beautiful in the fall.

Seeing the dry earth and the flatness reminds me of the Texas Plains and my childhood at my grandparents' house.
