KT Tunstall Review...A Giveaway Reminder...A Foodie Friday Link

     As most of you know, on occasion I'm asked to review new release CD's. I love that blogging perk. I am all about music, I always have been. I play music when I happy, when I'm sad and most often when I want to perk up and get things done around my house! My musical tastes are a bit unusual. I may be a grandma, but I listen to everyone from Bruno Mars, Eminem and Pink to Rascal Flatts and Amy Grant. My kids tend to borrow my music, not the other way around.

     I was anxious to hear Tiger Suit by KT Tunstall when I was told I would be reviewing it. Like many others, my only real knowledge of Ms. Tunstall was her 2005 hit single, "Black Horse in the Cherry Tree". I liked that song, in fact it was on my iPod for a while, but I had no idea what to expect from Tiger Suit. When I receive an album, my way of "testing it" is simply to put it on and crank up the sound. My first impression after listening to the CD once last night, was "it is okay, but what am I going to say about it". Luckily, I put it on again this morning and have been playing it all day.

     Tiger Suit is listed on iTunes as "pop" music. I'm not sure I quite agree with that category for Tunstall. She has a bit more of that Indie/alternative sound than what I would call typical pop music. She is difficult to categorize, she is a bit like Norah Jones in that her songs are a little bit folk story telling and a little bit blues mixed in with a pop beat. She has Scottish roots and they come through in her clear voice.

     Tiger Suit was released October 5th and her first single "Fade Like A Shadow" is a Top 20 radio hit. My own personal favorite song on the CD is "Lost". KT will be on tour this Fall and my guess is that she would be wonderful in concert.
