Yesterday morning I set my alarm for 6:30 a.m. When it went off, I turned on CNN and they were saying that the shuttle had launched 9 minutes earlier. I was kicking myself that I hadn't known about the launch and had missed my chance at seeing it from my parent's home. They mentioned on the news that remnants in the sky from the shuttle were beautiful at that moment, so I ran to the window and the above picture is what I saw. Believe me, my picture doesn't do it justice...the sky was glowing over the water. It was one of those rare sights that I was just lucky to be able to see.
We brought my mom home today. She spent 5 days in a rehab center and even though it was one of the the best in the city, it was horrible. She couldn't stand it there, although she did enjoy the therapy part of it and will be doing some outpatient therapy a couple of times a week. She still isn't moving around well, so she has some strength to gain and more progress to make. Each day is a little better than the day before and she (and my dad) are so glad she is home. I'm going to be here a few more weeks to hopefully help them get into a routine and for my mom to get around better. We all decided that if she was going to be sitting in a chair most of the day, it might as well be her chair and watching the boats go by instead of in a dark room, behind a curtain with a roommate. I really feel for people who have to go to places and have no other choices, or family members to look out for them. Even in the best of places there are mistakes made.
I will have more time now that we are home to hopefully read some of your wonderful blogs. I tried at the end of the day to read a few over the past 2 weeks, but I simply couldn't stay awake. I think I will start to get a bit of my energy back now that we are going to have a routine here. I can't wait! I've missed your blogs, I've appreciated the way you all have continued to send me messages and all of the prayers for my mom. You will never know how much it has meant to all of us.

So glad to hear that your mom is home. I am sure that will help her to feel better sooner. Just something about a hospital that just doesn't help with the healing process.
Sue, I miss your sweet posts and visiting! For goodness sakes, did you know that after all of this time I have never been a follower? I am so sorry. I love your blog, so I took care of that right away.
I am continuing to pray for your mom and all of you! This seems like a "limbo" time for you. Please take care of yourself.
Blessings,
Yvonne
I think that the beautiful picture you took is a sign that everything is looking "Up" from now on! I will continue to keep you and parents in my thoughts and prayers.
That really is an amazing picture-you are so lucky to have seen it!
Best wishes and take care.
Natasha.
Hi Sue!
There's no place like home...
as our astronauts will also say in a few weeks!
Your mom must feel so much better {inside & out} now that she's home... This will certainly make a difference for you as well!
You will most likely be driving her to her physical therapy... treat yourself to a tea or a latte each time ♥
It's amazing how love, care and encouragement can help in the healing process. I've seen it with my 96 yr. old neighbor.
Your mom is getting wonderful doses of love, care & encouragement!
Take Care, Sue!

ps. Your photo is fantastic! It would be a GREAT Sky Watch picture!
Sue, thank you for sharing that beautiful photo. It makes me long for the beach. I'm thankful that your Mom has come home and that you will be able to stay and help during these next few weeks. Many thoughts and prayers coming your way.

Much love to you and your mom! Even though some of us bitch and moan, life really is beautiful, as are the people we share it with.
LOVE to you.
Oh, Sue, I'm so glad to hear that your mom is back at home! I've just been catching up on your wonderful posts. I'm sorry that I've been out of touch--what a time this has been for you and your folks. It's a blessing that she can be at home where she feels comfortable and cared for.
Hope you are taking good care of yourself and getting the rest that you need, too. Your photo of the sky after the shuttle launch is spectacular!
Sending you warm best wishes,
Gigi
Sue-I am so glad that your mom is at home! I know that there is just something about hospitals that is exhausting! I know it will be good for your mom to be with the people she loves and in familiar surroundings. I am truly honored that you "caught up" on some of my back posts--thank you for visiting and sweet comments. I will keep all three of you in my prayers.
I've missed you, dear one. I am sorry I haven't stopped by sooner...why do I stay so far behind and lost in Blogland? It seems to grow daily.
I am happy to hear your mom is able to go home. Bless your heart for taking care of her. Without you, what in the world would she do..she would HAVE to stay where she didn't want to.
Get some rest and then....hit the blogs again!!

So glad to hear that your Mom is doing better, and that she's with you now. That is a wonderful photo - perhaps it's a harbinger of good things to come.
Hi Sue, thank you so much for stopping by! You are such a wonderful daughter to take care of your Mom! Thoughts of you and prayers lifted up! Hang in there Mom! :)
Michelle
I'm so glad your Mom is back in her own little nest! She'll thrive now in familiar surroundings with your Dad & you are her caretakers. I hope & pray that she will make a full recovery & be back up & mobile very soon.
Don't worry about responding to blog posts...just know we're here & thinking of you.
fondly,
Rett
p.s. We've watched the shuttle launch from the west coast of FL a few times. Awesome site & it always amazed me that we could see it so well.
Happy to hear your Mom is home! Glad you will be with her longer...Joan
The picture is beautiful, Sue! Thanks for sharing. I'm so grateful that your Mom is home! I know she feels sooooo much better, physically, mentally and emotionally. Perhaps all of you can get some rest now and the healing will proceed.
Keeping all of you in my prayers!
xoxo

Hi Sue,
I am praying for all of you. I know it is difficult...
I'm so glad to hear that your mother is home again Sue. I know she has a long road ahead of her, but I am sure that it will be a lot easier for her with you by her side.
Sue,
So glad to see that your mom is home now. I will continue to pray for a speedy recovery and try your best to take care of yourself too!!

That must have been an amazing sight in the sky!! I didn't fully realize the shuttle left a beautiful track like that.
So glad your Mom is home. What a story!! Amazing Grace. They do say light plays a big roll in recovery as well as laughter. I remember the story of the guy that could not stand the hospital, but had to go there everyday. He checked himself out and rented something near by. Then he watched comedy's--they really helped him improve.
My FIL was in a rehab place that had dark rooms. I don't see how people can stand that...but he actually likes the darkness (perhaps it has to do with lazer surgery producing a sensitivity in his eyes to light?).
I just prayed for your mom. Glad you can spend some extended time there!
Just take care of yourself and your Mom. That is the important thing.
You're doing the right thing by being where you are. The blog world will be here when you get back.
The formation in the sky looks like a tiger to me.
