When my husband and I were dating, we were attending separate colleges in different states (until we gave in and got married while still in school). We wrote lots of letters. My husband almost always included a "love Is..." comic from the newspaper in each letter. I still have all of them. So often they said exactly what we were thinking. For our 25th Anniversary he found a musical framed "love Is..." as a special surprise.
Love Is...began as a series of little love notes that Kim Grove drew for her future husband, Roberto Casali. The strip was first syndicated in 1970. Kim Casali died in June 1997. Since then, her son Stefano Casali has maintained the strip although it is always shown as "by Kim Casali" and signed "Kim" instead of Stefano.
In December we celebrated 35 years of marriage. I'm happy to say that my husband still knows what love Is...at least for me. It is the fact that he knows me so well that when I thought I was only getting this...
...and I was completely happy with my favorite chocolates. He pulled out these...
...a mushy card, my favorite white tulips and this amazing book that I've had my eye on for months. How did he know? Love Is...paying attention to what your wife looks at every time she is in Cracker Barrel.
I hope each and every one of you had a wonderful Valentine's Day. Love comes in many forms; our spouses, our friends, our children, our pets...I hope that someone loved you today.

Oh yes, that deserves a special Husband award! Listening that closely ... It's a beautiful thing ♥
Chris and I are right behind you in years... we will celebrate 32 this summer!
And... how lucky we were to live in a time when real letters were written and received. It was something to hold and cherish between visits.

I don't remember if I told you how much I like your new page !
What a sweet post! I loved every word, and your husband is a prince to pay such close attention. I'm blessed with mine doing that same thing. I only wish I could figure out something wonderful to get Mr. Magpie each year, but he's very hard to buy for, even for a seasoned magpie shopper like me who loves to buy shiny objects for people. :-)
So glad you had a great day!
XO,
Sheila :-)
Aw...how sweet! I always clipped the Love Is when my husband and I were dating. Like you said, it always seemed to say what we were thinking.
How sweet, Sue....that is really love when he knows exactly what will make you smile.
My BIL has been drawing Valentine, Anniversary cards for my sister since they were in their early teens when they first met....and also each time one of their babies was born.....He never forgets. That is love!

So true! Thanks for sharing your special Valentine's day. As for us, I believe we live the verse, "Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be." I'm looking forward to coffee on the deck each morning. (weather permitting)
So glad your hubby listens and pays attention ~ you deserve the special treatment! Glad you had a wonderful day.

Very touching, Sue. It's so great to see that you and your husband are still so in love. May it last forever. :)
I know first hand how thoughtful he really can be. I hope I find the kind of love the two of you have someday!
I have a lot of those little "Love is..." cartoons saved too. Your book looks great. I am glad your LOVE day was so special, Joan
In a world of rampant divorce and unstable families, it's nice to know that there are people like you out there.
Thirty-five years must have entailed a lot of compromise and perseverance, the knowledge that your genuine love needed consistent hard work to result in a successful marriage. Too many people expect a fairytale and bolt when things get tough.
