Thousand Island Dressing is my husband's favorite. Have you ever tasted that stuff from the store? Ick. When I was given this recipe a few years ago I was a bit surprised at what was in Thousand Island, but I made a batch anyway. It is so good. I don't usually eat this kind of dressing (except on Reuben sandwiches) but I love this. You can make it in just a few minutes and you will never want that bottled stuff again.
Ingredients:
1 cup real mayonnaise
1/3 cup ketchup
1/4 cup sweet pickle relish
1 chopped hard-boiled egg
It all goes into a bowl, and you gently stir. That's it! Use it on salads or sandwiches. Enjoy! I am joining our hostess Michael @ Designs by Gollum for Foodie Friday. Please visit her and check out all the delicious recipes you will find linked from her post.

How long will it keep? It sure looks good.
Jeanette-it doesn't last long around here (he eats it quickly) but, I wouldn't keep it longer than a week because of the eggs. It might be okay longer...but I'm really not sure.
I'm so sorry I posted my Limonchello "how to" without the recipe! Its posted now at the bottom... I was in a hurry as I am in Vegas and Hubby was ready to go out to dinner... We are here on business and had reservations on the other end of the strip! Anyway... I'm sorry to have confused you... recheck my post and see the recipe... 40 days with the vodka... then after 40 days you add a simple syrup (sugar water) and let it set another 40 days.. then strain it three times and there you go! Limonchello in the freezer to last the summer! In 40 days I'll post the rest of the how too's but its really easy...

OOO, SUE...I have been making this dressing for over 50 years. Hubby and I fell in love with it when it was served in a cafe here long ago. The chef told me how to make it and ....I still love it. RANCH DRESSING seems to be all anyone around here wants anymore but I still love the 1000 Island..I like it on crackers as much as on a salad! :)
hugs, bj
A classic recipe, and I'm glad to have it. Thanks!
This recepie I'm going to keep. Seems to be a very nice summery dressing. I know the botteled stuff here in Belgium but had now idea how you would make it from scratch.
I didn't know the recipe included chopped eggs. Thanks for sharing!
Hmmm - not completely convinced -- but with fresh ingredients, it is bound to be and infinity better than the glop at the restaurants!

YUM...I make all our salad dressings...they simply taste better. I've never added egg to my 1000 Island but plan to give that a try :)
Blessings!

I love different types of dressings for different things at different times. 1000 Island is my comfort food dressing. When I first saw this is what you were making I thought great, but since I rarely use full-fat dressings any more I thought I wouldn't be able to use it. Now that I've seen the ingredients I see I can try it with fat-free mayo. Kudos!
btw, my favorite sandwich is a Turkey Reuben with lots of dressing!
These are the kinds of recipes that are nice to have in the recipe box. Homemade is ever so much better. Have a fabulous Foodie Friday.

Yum. That's a keeper.
Simple with RELISH. Relish is awesome.
This is awesome. Every once in a while I want Thousand Island Dressing and I just picked up a bottle today, read the ingredient list and put it back on the shelf. The list was too long! I didn't know it was that simple. It's bookmarked!
I just found your blog! You have some really yummy recipes... I can't wait to browse around some more :)
