Blogger Issues

Now that I'm finally getting back to blogging, I thought I would check to see if the issues I had before my "break" had been fixed. They haven't...at least not for me. I am still unable to leave comments on many blogs using my normal browser, IE. Luckily, I am able to leave comments if I open Google Chrome (which I really didn't want on my computer). I have yet to figure out how to save things to favorites in Chrome, so it is a constant mess of switching back and forth between the 2 browsers. My computer is also running more slowly because I have both loaded in now.

Am I the only one who still gets the vicious circle when they try to comment? It asks for my account, I type in my name and password, it shows an anonymous comment and sends me back to log in again. Frustrating!

  1. Sue, I can only speak to saving favorites in Chrome. While the page/blog is open click the "star" in the upper right corner. Then when you open a new window in Chrome click the star again and everything you've saved will be there.
Sherri left this post today, maybe it will help...

  2. I still have the same problems too, unless I am using Chrome. But all my favourites are still there, under the bookmarks in the top Right hand corner.....I still end up switching because, of course, my internet banking won't work in Chrome!!!
    Gotta love technology!!

  3. I tried chrome some time ago and had to revert back - it created other problems with some sites. I started having so many problems with IE, I mainly use Mozilla Firefox. Sometimes "addons" can create problems also. Also, your "cookies" settings can cause problems in leaving comments - found that out by "trial and error".
The problems I was having recently seem to have stop - guessing blogger was doing maintenance/updates, but it got better.
Off to dinner - Will check back to see if anyone has some answers.

  4. I'm doing better with Blogger although it certainly is not as smooth as it was before all the changes. I keep the box unchecked re: staying signed in when I log in. I've found that I am able to comment on all blogs except those using Typepad. I have to view/comment on those using Safari. It truly is frustrating!

I keep the browsing history, temp files, cache, cookies, etc. cleaned out as well as restarting my computer daily.

    I so understand the frustration!

  5. I've had some problems off and on too -- don't know what the problem is.

  6. I've heard that if you unclick the "stay signed in" box it helps.

I haven't had issues with commenting for a while, but one of my favorite blog fell out of my reader and if I tried to follow again it told me I already follow them. I finally stopped following them and then followed them again.

    Welcome back!

  7. I'm having quite a bit of issues as well. They are doing a name change of Blogger to Google blogs, and I have the feeling a lot of the issues come from them working behind the scenes on the switch.

  8. I had the same problem for awhile. If you unclick the stay signed in box that should correct the problem. It did for me.

  10. I ran into boatloads of trouble when I recently upgraded to Internet Explorer 9--unable to comment, similar to the problem you describe, and unable to schedule completed posts. For me, it worked well to click the Compatibility View icon at the top of the page (that thing that looks like a torn piece of paper at the top of the page). I'm still figuring out exactly when to click it, but it has been helpful to me in several instances.

  11. I don't know if you are still having problems, but there are a couple of things I have tried that seem to have fixed things for me. One, I switched to using Fire Fox. BIG help on that one. Also, if you want to use IE you have to change some settings. It is not difficult to do: 1) In the upper right hand of your screen click on 'tools'; 2) A window will open. Click on compatibility view settings. 3)Another window will open. There ought to be a box with the name of the current web page which you are viewing. The box is designed to allow certain pages to be viewed in a 'compatibility mode'. Click on add. 4)The name of the website will move down into a larger box labeled "Websites You've Added to Compatibility View". Things ought to work better for you.

  12. I have the exact same issues with Blogger. I want to know when Blogger's gonna get their act together and fix their issues. I don't know why they changed the commenting process in the first place. If there's a window that opens up to leave comments, or if there's the option of leaving an anonymous comment or you can leave your name and URL then it's not an issue, but sigining in with an open ID doesn't even work anymore. It's so frustrating!
