Update-Prayers

Some of you have followed our journey with parents this year. We lost my mom in May and my husband's mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just before Christmas. My mother-in-law had a massive stroke this morning. She had requested no measures be taken to prolong her life, so she is at the nursing home and being kept comfortable. She may be able to hear us, but she is not responsive. Luckily, we were there on Saturday and she talked on the phone to both of my children. My husband called her last night and she seemed fine on the phone, he is very glad he called. They have told us that it takes 1-3 weeks to die without a feeding tube. We hope she passes quickly, my father-in-law is just sitting on his bed watching her. If I'm not visiting each of you as much as normal, you will know why. If you haven't spoken to your parents lately and still can...pick up the phone. We have really learned at our house in the past year that life can change very quickly.

  21. Sue, I am so very sorry! My mother had a long series of strokes and it was horrible to watch her deteriorate. It's also amazing how long the body can continue without nourishment.I do think it's between her and God now so I hope that your family can be at peace. I wish I were closer ~ I'd make you a pot of tea and offer a shoulder. Of course, the latter is available anyway.

    xoxo
