I read cookbooks the way some people read novels. I have way too many, but I love it when I get a new one that is outstanding. My sweet daughter knows this about me and gave me the wonderful Dam Good Sweet cookbook for Christmas. It is a beautiful book full of delicious recipes from New Orleans and I plan to try every one of them!
Even better, the book is signed just for me,
which makes it more special!
Chocolate Bread Pudding...doesn't this look "to die for"?
I also came home with the newest Disney cookbook. There are several and I have them all. I love being able to come home and recreate foods that we've had at WDW and try some that we can't afford when we are there!
You won't find this recipe in the cookbook, but I did find it here. We had our Christmas dinner at 'Ohana at Walt Disney World's Polynesian Resort. We have eaten there several times and it is quite the experience. Dinner is served family style, meats and shrimp come out on skewers and your waiter will call you "cousin" all night long. The food is perfect and the environment is gorgeous. Dessert is always the Banana Foster Bread Pudding with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. Even though you are stuffed by the time dessert arrives, you eat every bite it is so good! We forgot to take pictures of dinner...got the camera out just in time for dessert!
I am joining Michael @ Designs by Gollum
for Foodie Friday. The home of the
best recipes on in all of Blogland!
These look so yummy !! Now I am hungry!
ReplyDeleteI love cookbooks too, but often don't even try the recipes.....just spend a lot of time looking at all the wonderful pictures :)
Maybe I should set a goal to try one new recipe each week...well ok, maybe each month!
One of my favorite desserts is bread pudding and I seldom run across one I don't love, add that with the fact that I love Banana's Foster and I am in heaven today. This is where the saying, "My lips say yes, but my hips say no" is perfect.
ReplyDeletebtw, I always listen to my lips.
That New Orleans cookbook looks like a must have. I didn't join Foodie Friday, but I did post my CSN review today with a recipe I created. I think you might like the product I chose.
Hugs
The Bananas Foster bread pudding sounds and looks yummy. I have given just about all my cook books away since I just don't cook that much anymore. Believe me, I spent a lot of time "slinging those pots and pans" in past years. :-D
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend.
Oh that is not just Chocolate Bread Pudding; that is DOUBLE CHOCOLATE BREAD PUDDING!
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart.

I, like you, am a cookbook reader! What a great cookbook, and to have it signed makes it all the more special. I hope we will see some of those great recipes turned into posts!

I love cookbooks too, and what I don't buy I borrow from the library. My daughter and DIL both want some of my cookbooks so lately I've been on an ebay quest to find some of the old ones so that they can both have them.
ReplyDeleteThat banana dessert looked heavenly!

Bread pudding is one of my favorite desserts especially if it is topped with Vanilla cream. And the food in New Orleans is really good, Sue. I don't think I have eaten in any restaurant there that I did not like....Christine

Wow..what a delicious treat! Thanks for dropping by earlier. Wise words from a wise lady! Gosh..I never realized Disney had cookbooks. I love everything else produced by Disney..so treasures from this vault are worth looking into.
