I've been to Florida! We left on the 29th and just got back. This trip has been planned for months. Where my parents live, when someone dies they have a memorial celebration of their life. Where I live, we call it a cocktail party! My dad wanted to have a celebration for my mom on her birthday, November 3rd. I'll have more details about that for Tablescape Thursday. Because we were having a party at my dad's, we stayed in a hotel very near his home for the first time. It was quite the experience. The outside of the buildings reminded me of places we stayed back in the 60's (I'm sure it was built back then). The inside was completely remodeled with flat screen televisions, pillow top beds and granite counters. We also spent 3 nights in Orlando with our daughter (yes, there are pictures to come).
This is private home right next to the hotel.
I'm standing on the hotel's beach to take the picture.
Now for the exciting part! Just before I left for Florida, I found out that my friend Dee Dee from d dzine and I were going to both be in Orlando at the same time. Dee Dee was one of my first followers and we have gotten to know each other the past year. We were able to get together for a short visit and it was so much fun. Dee Dee is every bit as nice as I knew she would be. I also got to meet her son Zac who was so polite and patient when his mom took away his time at Epcot to meet a blog friend! Who would think that 2 women from the Midwest would travel all the way to Disney World to meet in person! It was a bit brisk in Orlando the days we were there, notice our layers of sweaters!

Oh, for the warmth and the water. I am stuck in 30 degrees and snow.
ReplyDeleteFlorida looked wonderful and how fun to meet a bloggy friend and they were just as nice in person as on their blog. Joni
ReplyDeleteI am envious of the warm weather and sun...although it's not too bad here in the Midwest compared to last week. But lucky you. And meeting a blog friend...how fun! Nice picture, too!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear more about the celebration!

ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun to meet a blog friend? I've met three and each one was as lovely as the one before - a real treat.
Loved meeting with some blog friends over a year ago and hope we can do it again in the near future. Love the pictures.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a fun time meeting a fellow blogger...I share your mother's birthday.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a wonderful trip Sue!
ReplyDeleteI love the pics of the motel and that is so neat that you got to meet a bloggy friend!
Oh, for that wonderful water and beach right now!
Hugs,

Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful trip. I hope your mother's wake went well and you had an uneventful drive down and back.
Can you imagine living in a home like this one on the beach? I would live in a lifeguard shack if it meant I could fall asleep each night to the sound of waves crashing onto the beach and awaken every morning to a beautiful sunrise over the sea. La
Welcome home, Sue. Sounds like you had a lot of fun in Florida and so nice that you met a blogging friend. I know that is always fun...Christine
ReplyDeleteThe warmth of Florida plus the warmth of a Bloggie friend - that's real luck. I wish you more of this in your life!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are awsome!
Time away from the computer on holiday is always a good idea and you can catch up now. Not sure what you have missed on News From Italy but hopefully you will have time to pop over and have a browse. It certainly looks like you had a great time visiting family and meeting a blogging friend. That is great, the second I have heard of this week, like pen friends only via 21C technology.
ReplyDeleteThose were gorgeous photo's. that's great you got to meet a blogger buddy. Happy Outdoor Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to meet a blog friend in person! I've been able to do that too, and was thrilled that it was like meeting someone I had known forever! Funny how blogging brings people together.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up today, and for the sweet words of support. It gets better every day.

Sue,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! Wayne asked Zac how it was to meet up with you and his answer was wonderful... he said "it's like we've always known them!" I will hold onto this meeting and treasure it! Glad you made it home safely!
Dee Dee
by the way... I love you tablescape this week!
Florida is looking awfully nice with winter creeping up on us here in the Midwest!
ReplyDeleteThat private home looks amazing.
Welcome back Sue.
ReplyDeleteI had every intention of blogging on my trip too, but there was no time! I'm just now getting caught up on blogs.
