From scarlet to powdered gold,
to blazing yellow,
to the rare
ashen emerald,
to the orange and black velvet
of your shimmering corselet,
out to the tip
that like
an amber thorn
begins you,
small, superlative being,
you are a miracle,
and you blaze
From "Ode to the Hummingbird"
Pablo Neruda (1904 - 1973)

ReplyDeleteHi, Sue... that is a gorgeous poem, and I love your photograph, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm checking in from my exile and hoping all is well with you. I plan to be blogging again in September, or that is what I hope. Things are kind of crazy here, but I'm hanging in there.
Thanks so much for your sweet messages. I appreciate them SO much. Miss you!
XO,
Sheila :-)
What a wonderful photo to go with that poem. It's been raining like mad here --but at least it's cooler than it has been.

I love Pablo Neruda so much. One Valentine's Day I bought Jeffrey his book Machu Piccu. (Did I spell that right?) It is gorgeously illustrated with amazing photographs of the ruins. What a treasure!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely photo. Looks like you captured a perfect day!
