I brought home this sweet little silver compote from my mother's collection. I added a small glass dome and I had a cloche. My love for all things Florida came out in this one with the addtion of beach glass and a favorite shell.
My second cloche is really special to me. A dear friend from high school, who I haven't seen since my 10th reunion, has once again come into my life via Facebook. During the past few months she has really been a loving, supportive friend. When I arrived at the funeral home for my mother's visitation, you can only imagine how surprised I was to find a sweet little teacup filled with roses. The card said that I could use the teacup for my tablescapes, or drink a cup of tea and think of my mom. I was so touched. What I actually did was allow the roses to dry along with the baby's breath.
I couldn't fit the saucer under the dome, but I love how this protects the dried roses and reminds me of my sweet friend.
Please take a moment to visit Marty and see the just how creative people can be when it comes to putting something under glass!
How beautiful! I just adore the tea cup and dried flowers. That was such a thoughtful, loving touch. I know it means so much to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing my friend.

I really like them both, and the vignette you created around the first one.
ReplyDeleteSue, I love the colors of the first one you put together and how special is that second one. What a special friend to think of you like that. That teacup with the dried roses is beautiful and I know it will remind you of the special kindness shown by your friend in your time of need.
ReplyDeleteOh how pretty. The shell and the pretty flowers in the gorgeous teacup are so lovely and creative. What a precious treasure. I know you will have such a special memory every time you look at it. Thanks so much for joining the party. Very special and touching. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThey are both so lovely.
ReplyDeleteThey are both unique and sentimental. Both remind you of your sweet mother. Your blue shell is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI just love them both Sue!
ReplyDeleteThe bright blue is so happy and what a wonderful gift from your dear friend. I always enjoy a cloche that holds an extra special treasure!

Friends, they are what hold us together through anything.
ReplyDeleteI love the teacup cloche, but honey, you know I went BONKERS for the first one. Great color, great shell, great overall vignette! Those are my favorite shells to buy, when they've taken off the outer part of the shell and you get to see the "jewel" beneath. I also love when they do this and it turns into an engraving of sorts.
Lovely!
You have a lovely friend... although so as she!:-)
ReplyDeleteI love the cloches, and the treasures that you used to display in them... You are a very creative lady!

ReplyDeleteOh the beach glass is so pretty, there just are no words. That color is magical.
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, the teacup speaks so much about the love of a friend. You will always remember with the heart, your mom and of course, your special friendship with a friend lost, and now found, Char
Ohhhhh, I love the shell! Nice cloche in a clutch!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind words and prayers for my friend, Sue. Your cloches are so pretty. I love the color of the shell and the teacup with dried flowers look so romantic and adorable....Christine
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea Sue! I love the tea-cup under the cloche and your beachy one is adorable too! Great ideas there girlfriend,
ReplyDeleteCindy
The shell is amazing and so deserves a prominent spot under the cloche!!!
ReplyDeleteMe again! :D thanks for stopping by. You asked about the shine on the table. It is that high gloss finish ( protective coating ?) - can't remember what it is called. It has taken a beating over the years and has many dings and blemishes.
ReplyDeleteBoth very beautiful, Sue!
ReplyDeleteBoth lovely projects, Sue! I adore the teacup with the roses. I'm sure your mom is beaming down on you with pride...
ReplyDeleteLynette
Sue both of your cloches are beautiful and how sweet of your friend to think of you and send you such a lovely arrangement!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
Well, Sue, you definitely didn't get left out of this party! I think you've done a beautiful job of putting both of your cloches together. The teacup and flowers will be a nice reminder of a "new" old friendship, as well as a tribute to your mother. And incorporating things that you love with your mom's compote is especially meaningful, too. That blue beach glass is a gorgeous color. Thanks for your sweet comment tonight.
ReplyDeletehugs, Sue
