Prayers Needed Please

My mom suffered a major stroke this morning when we were sitting on her patio doing thank you notes. My dad had gone to run errands. It happened so quickly, in the middle of a sentence. One minute we were laughing, the next I could tell something was wrong. I called 911 and they got here quickly (it didn't seem like it at the time). They got her from to the hospital in 34 minutes from the time I called. Because of all of her other medical procedures lately, they can't do some of the things they would normally do. So we wait. She will either get better or she won't. She knows what we are saying and even was giving me the thumbs up while we waited for the ambulance to arrive. She has one side and her speech affected. My husband started back down this evening and will be here tomorrow. If it is something you feel you can do, please say a short prayer for healing. Her name is Lou. Thank you. Sue

Our Heavenly Father, Thank you for the many gifts you have given, including wonderful moms like Lou. We pray that you give Lou a touch from Your healing hands. Please provide her with the strength she needs and, at times she feels like giving up, please remind her of the family in the waiting room. Please provide the doctors with the wisdom they need, provide the nurses with renewed sense of calling. Please just embrace Sue and her family with your love.
    In Jesus' name,
    Amen

  17. Thank you everyone. Amanda, what a beautiful prayer. ICU kicked us out for a while so I got some sleep and I'm hoping my dad did. My mom was frantic for something to drink/ice last night and they wouldn't let her have anything yet. She also was writing her name and brief questions/requests etc. She was able to write I Love You to my dad and was saying a few short words. We continue to hope and pray to see signs of healing. I can never express how much I appreciate your kind words and prayers.

  33. Checking in. Thanks for the continued prayers. Mom is still in ICU, she is sleeping most of the time and can still squeeze my hand when I tell her I'm there. She isn't in pain. My son is flying in tonight, they have always been extremely close and he hasn't seen her since November. My sister and niece are coming in on Thursday.

  43. Sue - I'm so sorry. I wish there was more that we could do in blogland, than just pray and say a few words.
But I'm going to look at the episode from the view point of a Mom. What a wonderful thing that she was still able to communicate with you through it all. That must've been so comforting for her . . . knowing something scary was happening and to have you right there by her side.
Please keep us all updated. I'm so behind in blogging and am so sorry it's taken me this long to find out.
Many, many prayers being said for all of you.
Hugs. Karen - Some days are diamonds

Sue..I'm praying for strength for both your mom and your family. May God provide the doctors with wisdom and just make everything your mom needs go smoothly. May he also provide the physical comforts that you and other family members need. I pray that you're able to get enough sleep and that you're able to eat. I pray that God uses this to pull all of your family members closer. May your mom come out of this ready for the challenges in rehab. And may God let you, Sue, feel the love of all of your virtual friends. May our prayers wrap around you when our arms cannot.
